Keep your eyes on yourself

The thing I love about Yoga is that things that happen on the mat are always relatable to things in our lives off the mat.

The other day i decided to attend a yoga class at my local gym. Yoga is usually not part of my weekday routine but my body was definitely screaming rest and recovery.

Class was great. We were flowing, stretching, breathing and being present in the moment. Half way through our flow we gotten into some balancing poses. Everything was going smoothly until we went into Dancer. Dancer is beautiful pose, I love how gracefully strong and confident this pose allows you to be.

So as we move through Dancer, i started looking at the other Yogis and noticed a lady further up to my right perfecting her pose. I noticed myself keep peeking over there and before I knew it, I lost balance and fell over... well more like fell out of my Pose!

This made me think how easily we can get distracted by paying too much attention to what others are doing. If I would've kept my eyes on my own mat, i would've never lost balance. And i thought it was important to apply that to life as well. The things is, the more we pay attention to how others are living and balancing their lives, the harder it will be to stay in alignment with our own life.

MORAL OF THE STORY - Keep your eyes on yourself because that's where you'll grow the most.
